Susan Kraft

Biography of Investigator: 
Dr. Kraft’s research and special clinical imaging interests are cancer imaging particularly with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT). In addition to board certification in veterinary diagnostic imaging, she is also boarded in veterinary radiation oncology with an interest in the application of imaging modalities for treatment planning as well as evaluation of radiation effects.

Research Focus:
Dr. Kraft's research interests are in cancer imaging particularly with Magnetic Resonance Imaging/ spectroscopy and computed tomography, and also including imaging-guided radiation therapy as well as neuroradiology. Dr. Kraft's research involves the use of MRI as a means of physiological assessment of cancer for better characterization and to evaluate its response to therapy. This particularly involves imaging of parameters important to treatment response such as tumor vascularity, hypoxia, diffusion, perfusion, and tumor metabolism.

Future Direction:
Dr. Kraft serves as director of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging service at the CSU Animal Cancer Center, and will also direct the PET-CT research program as CSU’s new PET-CT instrument as installed in 2009.
