The race benefited the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the Bow Wow Buddies Foundation and the CSU Animal Cancer Center.
Despite the snowy weather and cold temperatures approximately 100 racers including dogs turned up for this great fundraiser. Jake Blake, a Labrador who completed a clinical trial and is a soft tissue sarcoma, was at the event and his owner Mike gave a donation of $320, $10 for every day he has been cancer free.
He was not alone! There were many cancer survivors who turned up for the race – both human and animal. The CSU Animal Cancer Center will direct their one-third of the race proceeds towards the ACC Scholarship Program and it will be used to fund either a Medical Oncology Resident or a Cancer Biology Ph.D. student. We will be participating again next year in this great event (and hoping for better weather!).
