CSU Animal Cancer Center Clinical Trial
Patient Disease: Canine patients with lymphoma who have not been previously treated.
Study Name: Canine Comparative Oncology and Genetics Consortium (CCOGC) Tissue Bank.
Purpose of the Study: The purpose of this study is to help populate a national tumor tissue bank or archive. The primary mission of the CCOGC is to improve the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and other diseases in dogs. There may also be benefits to human patients diagnosed with similar types of cancers. The collective information from several thousand tissue samples form dogs will contribute important knowledge about our understanding of cancer, its prevention, early diagnosis and treatment.
Patient Entry Criteria: Canine patients who have been diagnosed with lymphoma and who have not received any prior treatment are eligible. Patients must have a surgically accessible lymph node and be healthy enough to tolerate the anesthetic and surgical procedure associated with lymph node removal. In addition we would like to obtain 1.5 tablespoons (22 cc) of blood and a urine sample from your pet at the time samples are taken for other diagnostic tests.
Owner Responsibilities: The owner is responsible for the initial diagnostic tests, follow up exams including blood work, and chemotherapy treatment costs. Owners are required to give written consent for the lymph node excision and blood sampling procedures.
Financial Incentives: Special financial considerations will be given to the clients for their pet’s participation in this study. The study will cover the costs of lymph node excision and will provide a $300 credit toward your pets continued treatment.
