CSU Animal Cancer Center Clinical Trial

Patient Disease:
Canine Brain Tumor Accessible for Biopsy

Study Name:
Brain Tumor Tissue Biobanking

Purpose of the study:

  • Lack of access to brain tumor tissue is a barrier to ongoing improvements to therapy
  • This clinical trial will supply tissues that will be used in numerous other future studies evaluating effective treatments, side effects, novel approaches to therapy

Primary Eligibility Criteria:

  • Canine patient with a brain tumor, accessible for surgical removal or biopsy
  • Owner has elected to pursue therapy with surgery
  • Patient is healthy otherwise

Study Protocol:

  • Pre-enrollment: MRI consistent with a brain tumor
  • Surgical removal of tumor tissue, CSF fluid, skin biopsy (at incision edge), blood sampling for biobanking

Owner Responsibilities:

  • The owner is responsible for all costs not covered by the study (preliminary testing, additional optional cancer therapies)
  • The owner is expected to make and keep all appointments associated with the study

Financial Incentives:

  • VTH credit up to $8,000.00 for brain surgery, to be applied to the account once the surgery is completed
